Jamie Pattee, LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

I began my career as a therapist in 2013 after teaching for eight years in the Paradise Valley Unified School District. Throughout my career as a therapist, I spent time in the community mental health setting and later in a group private practice. I have completed training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT); an approach in which I often use in the therapy room with my clients. With EFT, I strive to rebuild the emotional connection and cultivate a space that allows for open and honest communication with your partner. I am always striving to honor my authentic self, dedicated to learning and expanding my knowledge. This passion has allowed me to build a foundation of certifications including the opportunity to receive certification in Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (ACRA), which focuses on assisting adolescents with substance abuse, as well as, completing level one training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, an evidenced based treatment for trauma. My current focus is on supporting individuals, families, and couples on a variety of issues including, substance abuse, family communication, family conflict, anger, anxiety, motherhood, parenting skills, and self-esteem; bringing my past experiences and expertise to support me in cultivating a healing space for all. I also have experience in working with the LGBTQIA+ community and identify as an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist.

From the wise words of Brené Brown, “Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen,” and for me, my journey has been about finding that taste of courage and allowing myself to be seen even after I have been deeply hurt in personal relationships. The older I get, the more I feel a gravitational pull to cultivate and experience more authentic connections and relationships with my family and friends. When I feel that I am safe to be my true self around my loved ones, I immediately relax, my shoulders fall, my jaw releases, and I know that I am loved and accepted for who I am. Coming to this place in my life has not been an easy journey. There have been many times in my life where I have not been understood or met others’ expectations. I have learned through my own work that I don’t need to change my authentic self to make others happy. I have learned that it is ok to disappoint people if it means I would have to compromise being my most genuine self. I have learned about secure attachments and how to deepen connections with the ones I love. I have found through experience that these skills are also used in therapy with my clients. It is an honor to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for individuals, couples, and families to build strong and healthy relationships. My heart truly believes in guiding individuals through life’s obstacles with healthy connections, relationships, communication, empathy, and openness; all to ensure change and personal growth within for each brave client willing to begin their journey to their authentic self.
